Maria Perea Barbosa, M.D.
Maria Perea Barbosa, M.D., is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician and an active member of the Obesity Medicine Association. She completed her residency at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center, affiliated with Weill Cornell Medical College, Cornell University, in New York City. She earned her medical degree from the Universidad Libre de Colombia in Barranquilla, Colombia.
Dr. Perea has more than 10 years of experience as a Medical Doctor. She practiced in outpatient primary care, hospitalist, and urgent care settings for several years in New York, Ohio, and Central Florida before relocating to South Florida.
Passionate about obesity and weight loss medicine early in her medical career, Dr. Perea discovered obesity as the most common root of numerous diseases encountered as an internist. For many years, she has devoted herself to fighting this disease by educating and guiding her patients toward healthy habits.
Dr. Perea is a knowledgeable, compassionate, patient-focused professional committed to medical excellence. In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities, exercising, biking, professional dancing, and spending quality time with her family and friends.
